For each event, please arrive 30 minutes before hand. This will allow enough time for runners to be on their marks when the whistle blows!

Activities on Race Day!
Throughout the morning, and after the 5K, there will be tons of activities and booths for you to peruse. Some activities will cost money, and some won’t.. we suggest bringing a few dollars per person for these activities. Don’t forget the Pie in the Face with some of our favorite Swift Creek Elementary Faculty and Staff!!!
There WILL be extra shirts on packet pickup day, but they are first come first served. If you registered during the guaranteed shirt time period, yours are set aside. They will be there. Those of you who saw a message about ‘NOT GUARANTEED’ on your shirts, then they’re…. not guaranteed to be there.. we may have one in your size, we may not. Get there early!
The results of the race will be posted on the Commonwealth Timing website.

About the Great Gator 5K
Swift Creek Elementary School will be hosting the fifth annual Great Gator 5K and Kids Fun Run on Saturday, April 23th 2016. The Fun Run begins at 8:30 am and the 5K begins at 9:30 am.
This event will focus on celebrating healthy living as a community while benefiting SCES technology initiative as all profits go directly to our school technology fund.
For the second year in a row Our Race has now been included as part of the Race Local Spring Race Series. This website showcases races in our area that support local Virginia communities.
This year the course will again traverse the roads and pathways of Brandermill, beginning and ending at the SCES campus.
The Great Gator 5K is funded by sponsor donations and runner entry fees. All profits will fund the purchase of technology that will be used in classroom learning. Last year the profits help the school to purchase 30 new Chromebooks with a storage and charging cart. Many studies have shown the benefits for students who get hands-on learning using these devices as well as other classroom aids such as large touch screens and projectors. Our school is in need of updating its technology; this is not something that Chesterfield County can always provide. By fundraising within the community, we can bridge the gap and help students Race into the Future through participation in an increasingly global society.
Race day will include the 5K, a Kids Fun Run, and a festive after-race party. We have all ready received a huge, positive response from the school and surrounding communities. Last year we had over 500 runners! We expect even more this year! In addition to race participants, we expect to welcome families cheering on the runners. This population creates an amazing opportunity for businesses to reach a wide audience.
In an effort to reduce expenses and maximize the dollars available to donate to the school, sponsorship opportunities are being offered. Sponsorship can be in the form of cash donations, in-kind donations of food, prizes, give-aways or race-team participation. Several levels of sponsorship are available with many providing advertising during the race. Sponsors will also have the option to purchase a booth at the race. You can download the sponsorship packet soon. Sponsorship inquiries may be made to email@example.com.

Children are welcome and encouraged to participate; parents will need to supervise their children on the 5K course. It is recommended that an adult accompany younger children. A 20 minute Kids Fun Run obstacle course is available on the SCES campus for rising Kindergartners to Fifth Graders.
The Great Gator 5K is a community-wide event. All are encouraged to join the fun. Runners/walkers with strollers are welcome on the 5K course. In consideration of the safety of all participants, no animals, skateboards, bikes, scooters or skates will be allowed in the official race area.
The Kids Fun Run race entry fee includes a fun run t-shirt. 5K participants will receive a 5K t-shirt, medal and a swag bag filled with various freebies from sponsors. You can upgrade your cotton shirt to a runners “moisture wicking fabric” tech shirt for an extra $10 fee. The option will be available to 5k runners only and will be an option during online registration.
Please note: You must register by 4/4/2016 to be guaranteed a Race Shirt!
Registration will be online only. Space permitting, race day registration should be available but those runners are not likely to receive a shirt and will be placed in the last starting wave regardless of runner pace.
